Kerala registers 99.77% pass in CBSE 10th exams


Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 99.77 percent pass, as the results of the Chennai region CBSE standard X examinations were announced on Sunday. The results of the Chennai region comprising Kerala and eight other states and union territories were put at 99.07 percent.

Kerala CBSE managements association general secretary Indira Rajan told Deccan Chronicle that as many as 1,75,072 students had appeared for the exams from the region. Of them, 65,936 were from the state.

As grading has been introduced in CBSE schools this year, there would be no ranks or state toppers in the examinations. The CBSE had introduced a continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE) process from this year.

Sources said most of the prominent schools in the state had recorded 100 percent pass.

The managements of the schools from the state had approached the CBSE office for speedy announcement of the results as the last date for submitting the applications for Plus Two in higher secondary schools in the state is on Tuesday.

Some students from CBSE schools have been trying to shift to state syllabus from Plus Two, she said. Sources said that there are chances for extending the last date for admissions to higher secondary schools in the state.

The examinations of 10th Class between were conducted between March 2 and March 15. Last year, the Chennai region had recorded a pass percentage of 99.66 percent. The results will be
made available in the CBSE's official websites www.cbseresults.nic.infrom 10 am on Monday.
