Rs 1 lakh each for 200 government school students


NEW DELHI: Impressed by the performance of government schools, the HRD ministry has announced the CBSE's reward scheme for the meritorious students from CBSE-af-fliated government schools.

According to HRD minister Pallam Raju, the reward scheme will include about 200 students — 50 best from each stream — sci-ence, commerce, humanities and vocational. "Each student conferred with the reward will receive Rs 1 lakh and all students who have studied from classes IX to XII and have passed Class XII in this year in the CBSE affliated government schools and run by the state gov-ernments will be eligible. These rewards will be based on the Class XII marks and will be announced one month from the date of dec-laration of Class XII results," said Raju.

Delhi, Sikkim, Arunachal, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh and Chhattis-garh have government CBSE schools. This is the first such award instituted by the HRD ministry.
