Kochi: While playing for the Rajasthan Royals, cricketer Sanju V. Samson hardly appears nervous, but on Wednesday morning he made frequent phone calls to his parents, in Thiruvananthapuram, enquiring about his plus two results.
In the afternoon the Samson family was delighted as their boy, despite attending very few classes, due to his arduous cricket training, had passed. The results were conveyed to Sanju, who was with his team in Jaipur.
Sanju got an A+ in Hindi, A in English, B in Computer Application and decent marks in Accountancy, Business studies and Economics. He is a student of St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, in Thiruvananthapuram.
“We are so proud of Sanju. He could rarely attend classes and we had to take printouts of notes, given by his friends, and he used to carry them on his cricket tours,” said his mother Lijy.
The young Kerala wicket-keeper batsman, who is now a sensation in the Indian Premier League, had a busy year. He was a regular member of the State team and also attended various camps in the National Cricket Academy, including the camp of the U-19 Indian team.
“Now I can fully concentrate on the game as the results have finally come,” said a happy Sanju, returning to a short nap after a day’s hectic training with Rahul Dravid, Shane Watson and
company.
